SAIL AND SUMMIT

When a professional sailor from the German Sailing Team fell in love with one of the world’s top 15 skiing freeriders, a very important challenge arose: How do you combine sailing and skiing?

The couple Lotta and Felix Wiemers came up with a simple yet breathtaking solution in the form of their “Sail & Summit” project. The couple started offering adventure tours in Norway, where they travel to different spots on their own boat, which would otherwise be inaccessible. Once they arrive, the participants can climb the mountains of Norway and ski down exceptional slopes.

An incredible feeling

Norway’s countryside is incomparable to anything else. It’s an incredible feeling to sail to the foot of the mountains in a sailboat. The combination of skiing and sailing, but also of mountain climbing or mountain biking and sailing, is unique, and always ends up turning into an adventure. During the summer, you can experience 24 hours of sunlight. During the winter, which is a lot rougher, the polar lights emit their magical glow. Meeting a school of whales at that time is an unforgettable experience.

A cozy winter residence

The centerpiece of “Sail & Summit” is the couple’s yacht, “Vilma”, which they bought in Kiel. With a length of 13.5 meters and a width of 4 meters, the yacht offers enough storage space for materials and rations. Its Eberspächer Airtronic air heater makes it a very cozy winter residence on the edge of the fjords.

Safe travels

From April until the middle of May, Lotta and Felix Wiemers take adventure-seeking people on their tours and accompany them for a week. You should be averagely fit and a good skier. Don’t worry, however, as the guides will adjust the tours to their guests.
