Our goal

CO₂-neutral production by 2030

Shaping clean and quiet mobility is anchored in our company strategy MOVE. An essential part of our activities is to act in an ecologically responsible manner. Our goal is CO₂-neutral production by 2030 and we intend to be a CO₂-neutral company by 2040. This is in line with the 1.5-degree target of the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change. Well thought-out and efficient energy and environmental management is very important to us. It is based on our energy and environmental guideline. In this way, we use resources responsibly and protect the climate.

Energy consumption and carbon footprint

By 2026, we want to source 60 percent of our energy consumption from renewable sources. Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs), energy efficiency measures and the generation of solar power are three important starting points for reducing our carbon footprint. Compared to the previous year, we were able to reduce our electricity-induced CO₂ emissions by 22 percent in 2023.

Certified management systems

The environmental management systems of almost all production sites are certified in accordance with ISO 14001. The continuous reduction in energy consumption is a key component in the annual environmental and energy programs at the individual sites — as it has been for years.

Waste and water

Water is a scarce resource and a relevant environmental metric. In the context of sustainability monitoring, we and our customers place value on efficient consumption. To protect the environment, we separate waste and dispose of or recycle it properly. Compared to the 2019 baseline, the volume of non‑hazardous waste was reduced by 34 percent. Hazardous waste decreased by 53 percent.

In cooperation with our logistics partners and suppliers, we strive to reduce the carbon footprint from production, transport and traffic.
