Opening of new Purem by Eberspaecher technology plant in Xuchang, China

Esslingen (Germany) / Xuchang (China), 16 November 2023 – Solutions for Clean Mobility – this is what Purem by Eberspaecher pursues in China. Today management and guests officially celebrated the opening of the new technology plant for exhaust systems in Xuchang.

“This opening marks the next step in our business development in Asia where we are applying our technological expertise to our goal of clean mobility”, Martin Peters, Managing Partner of the Eberspaecher Group, emphasized the strategic objective at the ceremony. And he highlighted further: “Located in the middle of China, the Xuchang plant convinces with customer proximity as well as associated better customer service.”  

Annual production of 500,000 systems
The plant with a size of over 7,000 square meters will produce exhaust gas aftertreatment systems for passenger cars and commercial vehicles for Chinese automotive manufacturers. These include the so-called hot end systems with, catalytic converters, particulate filters as well as cold-end components with mufflers and pipes. Purem by Eberspaecher’s core competencies of canning and welding will come into use in twelve production lines with an annual capacity of 500,000 units. With new customer nominations the starting team of about 80 employees today will grow up to 130 employees by the end of 2024.

The products comply to China's "National VI" emission standards, which are among the most stringent in the world. The continuous upgrading of emission requirements has created market opportunities for exhaust aftertreatment manufacturers, and Purem by Eberspaecher brings its global technological innovation expertise to promote the development of the industry.

Footprint development in Asia
Xuchang plant is Purem by Eberspaecher´s second technology site in China offering the full range of exhaust products. The Divisions Asian operations are headquartered in Shanghai with a tech center as well as production facilities. Seven other plants in China, as well as joint venture operations with two plants in India, one in Malaysia, and one in Thailand, supply local and global automotive manufacturers in Asia with exhaust emission conversion systems for passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
