Acoustic valves for quiet mobility

- Purem by Eberspächer expands its portfolio of acoustic valves

- Important components for the upcoming EU legislation on acoustics

- Reduced-weight variant for a wide range of applications

Esslingen (Germany), 16 March 2022 – Purem by Eberspächer further expands its portfolio of acoustic valves. The new versions of the active and passive valves are important components to be compliant with the third phase of acoustic legislation valid in Europe from 2024. The exhaust technology specialist covers a broad spectrum of applications with these new products.

There are high legal requirements for reducing noise emissions in road traffic. With this expansion of the product portfolio, the exhaust technology and acoustic specialist Purem by Eberspächer provides the appropriate solution for each vehicle sector – from economy to premium model, from small car to luxury sedan.

Active Acoustic Valves
The Acoustic Valve Generation 2 Compact (AVG2 Compact) from Purem by Eberspächer makes for a pleasant vehicle sound at a high level of acoustic tightness. It reduces sound emissions and back-pressure for the engine, especially in the case of exhaust systems with decreased muffler volume. The new, reduced-weight version of the AVG2 tips the scales at just 500 grams and is thus of interest for a wide market. As with the AVG2, the rotating valve plate of the AVG2 Compact is controlled electrically. The new version of the product stands out with its high temperature resistance of up to 650 degrees Celsius and is designed to have a service life that exceeds one million switching operations. What’s more, the actuator position can be rotated, which makes for greater flexibility in the installation space. The connector position is flexible and can be chosen in line with the customer’s wishes, thus making it adaptable to the requirements of different installation spaces.

Passive Acoustic Valves
The structure of the passive acoustic valve is as simple as it is effective. The flow pressure of the exhaust controls the opening and closing of the valve. The system provides a high level of sound attenuation. The muffler volume can be reduced by up to 25 percent with this valve solution. Depending on the market demands and the customer’s design specifications, the components can be adapted to the conditions of the respective vehicle design. Depending on the design, the passive valve is also resistant to exhaust temperatures of up to 700 degrees Celsius. The compact component only weighs 320 grams with a connection diameter of 55/65 centimeters. The passive valve has a service life of at least 1.2 million opening cycles. Purem by Eberspächer started series production on the US and Chinese market. This efficient product is now available on the European market.
