Eberspaecher holds its ground in a challenging market
Esslingen (Germany), 21 May, 2026 – Eberspaecher holds its own in the past year in a challenging market environment and achieves a strong operating result. The company is positioning itself for the future with innovative products and new partnerships.
“Despite a demanding operative environment, in the past year we have shown once again that our transformation course is commercially successful. We achieved an operating result which compares favorably within the automotive supplier industry,” summarizes CEO Jörg Steins as he reflects on the past financial year. The operating result, adjusted for extraordinary items and non-recurring expenses, amounts to 86.3m euros. The company is developing technologically, organizationally and operatively systematically to remain competitive. The significant improvement in cash flow from operating activities to 194.0m euros (previous year: 160.1m euros) highlights the effectiveness of the actions taken. The consolidated revenue of the Eberspaecher Group of Companies fell by 6.6% to 4,979.8m euros (previous year: 5,333.2m euros). All Divisions recorded falling revenues in an overall difficult economic environment, especially due to exchange rate effects. The net revenue, adjusted for transitory items such as monoliths*, fell by 7.3% to 2,531.3m euros (previous year: 2,731.7m euros). Headcount remained about the same in 2025. The company employs 10,374 employees worldwide (previous year: 10,680), around 3,300 of them in Germany.
Strength through international presence and new business areas
As a technology provider with system competence, Eberspaecher transfers existing know-how into new business areas, also outside the automotive industry. For this purpose, the Esslingen-based company secured targeted partnerships, including with Danish company Topsoe (SOEC pressure vessels for production of hydrogen) and the Dutch specialist Zeliox for energy storage systems. The refinement underscores product launches in the previous year: These include battery housings made of high-strength steel with customer nominations in China, 800-volt heating solutions for electric vehicles, as well as a comprehensive portfolio for fuel cell systems or the Direct Air Capture Technology, which removes CO2 from the atmosphere.
The international joint manufacturing network, with around 40 production sites in more than 30 countries, also makes the company resilient to tariffs and geopolitical shifts. “The markets remain volatile and the rules of the game are changing – we are defining our role anew and responding with flexibility, speed and innovation. We have been able to achieve enormous progress and regard the commercial development of the financial year as being altogether successful,” summarizes Jörg Steins.
Outlook
“1865–2025 amounts to 160 years of experience at our company. For us as a family-owned company, this is not a cause for complacency, but an obligation to actively drive future technologies forward,” says Managing Partner Martin Peters as he looks ahead. The current year continues to be characterized by uncertainties and their effects on worldwide market developments. At the same time, competitive pressure is increasing, especially from Asia. “The key is resilience. Our corporate management is therefore focused on profitability, taking into account regional differences and significantly shorter planning cycles,” adds Jörg Steins. In the first months of 2026, the Group recorded successful business performance thanks to further stabilization and customer demand as expected in all areas. Eberspaecher expects a significant improvement in operating EBIT for the current financial year.
Sustainability 2025
The Group achieved important milestones towards becoming CO2-neutral in production by 2030. Production-related CO2 emissions have been lowered by 59% since data collection began in 2019. CO2 emissions attributable to electricity consumption were reduced by as much as 70%. In addition to the targeted reduction of energy consumption, increased use of green electricity and our own use of photovoltaics have also made a contribution. As a technology provider, Eberspaecher develops sustainable products such as propane-based air-conditioning systems and assumes responsibility throughout the supply chain with the use of sustainable steel for exhaust systems. The newly published Sustainability Report 2025 summarizes the future-oriented sustainability activities in the three focus areas of Green Footprint, People and Innovations.
The Annual Report provides a comprehensive overview of the Eberspächer Group’s 2025 financial year.
