FlexRay System Test
General
The goal of the system test is to offer a low-priced test for the OEM regarding different topologies:
- Bus cables (type and length)
- Supply cables (type and length)
- Ground cables (type and length)
- With or without communication controller
- Amount of nodes
- Amount of active star couplers
- Amount of passive stars
- Point to point connections or passive bus structures
It is important for the OEM to check different topology types early in order to prevent any delays in the development phase. The tests can be carried out at Eberspächer Electronics. In case of numerous testing requirements, the testing system can also be installed at the customer's facility.
Overview of the System Tests
Important system parameters can be individually chosen by the customer. The fully automatic test always guarantees the same test conditions and reproducibility:
- One PC controls all power supplies and generators via the GPIC interface
- One PC controls all test cases
- Every node is able to send test patterns and to analyze the received test patterns
- The analysis of the test patterns is realized in every node. The test result will be send to the PC via the CAN interface
- One PC writes the test report at the end of the system test
Hardware
Software and hardware are both realized in modules in order to have a flexible system for nodes and stars. Optional functions from the customer can be added easily. A node consists of several modules:
- Carrier board with power supplies onboard
- Host board with microcontroller
- Measurement board to generate and analyze test patterns in the node (optional)
- CC board with FlexRay Communication Controller for the protocol (optional)
- BD carrier board as adapter for the new tiny BD modules
An active star coupler consists of several modules:
- Carrier board with power supplies onboard
- Host board with microcontroller (optional)
- Measurement board to generate and analyze test patterns in the star (optional)
- BD carrier board as adapter for the new tiny BD modules
